After departing Cleveland High School in May of 1964, my family moved to Burbank, where I attended Burbank High School for my senior year and graduated in 1965. After high school, employment included ZERO Mfg. Co. in Burbank until January 1966, when I enlisted in the United States Coast Guard.  Tours of duty or educational opportunities include locations such as Groton CT, Oahu HI, Long Beach CA, San Diego CA, Cheltenham MD, Kodiak AK, Alameda CA, Petaluma CA, Portsmouth VA, and Washington DC. I retired April 1996, as a Communications Chief Warrant Officer (W-4) after 30 years of service.

In early 1967, while stationed in Hawaii, I met the love of my life, my wife of the last (almost) 46 years. We were married in November of 1968 at the Pearl Harbor Chapel, with family, friends, and shipmates in attendance.

We have three children and four grandchildren. Currently, all of us reside in Northern Virginia, where I’m employed as a facility manager

I recently visited my old friend (and fellow Pole Vaulter) Bernie Schmalhofer on a trip to California on June 30, 2014.
